The village is situated 2 km far from Valea Stramba along the no. 138 county road, 7 km far from Gheorgheni, between Valea Stramba and Suseni, at 775 m altitude. It has closely grown together with Suseni in the south-west. Valea Stramba and its railway station is only 1 km far from here. Chileni can also be approached from Odorheiu-Secuiesc, across the Liban Peak, touching Suseni, along the former "embanked road". The village had 860 inhabitants in 1992.
The Roman Catholic Churchof the village was built of stone, with fence, in Baroque style. Its Gothic windows have preserved the memory of the small former chapel. The church was consacrated in 1761.
Next to the church stands the memorial column of the heroes as well as the community hall, the building of the former Roman Catholic popular college.
